Wedding Pictures

Here are the long-awaited wedding pictures!

And for those that haven’t seen them yet, pictures from our honeymoon in Vermont and Cape Cod.

My Engagement Pictures

I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted, but I wanted to share my engagement pictures with you ladies.  The first couple were taken where we got engaged. 🙂 All of these were taken by my fabulously talented sister Melissa.  She writes a great blog over at

Mini update: The wedding theme is “Love birds” and the colors are blue and white. We’re making almost everything ourselves. So/sew far, I’ve made my wedding dress and 3 bridesmaid dresses. One more bridesmaid and the flower girl’s dress to go!

I’m Engaged!!!

“God’s gifts put man’s best dreams to shame.” — Elizabeth Barrett Browning.

Wonderful Wednesday, everybody!  So this is why I haven’t been posting much lately.  😉

To make a long story short, Samuel and I met when he came down to attend the Bible college at my church.  We started courting about this time last year, and he graduated this past spring.  On Friday after a performance of Handel’s Messiah, he asked me to marry him, and I said yes.

We went together to pick out a ring on Saturday, and we ended up designing it custom.  Here is a close-up.

I’m so happy!!!  The LORD has blessed me greatly beyond my wildest dreams with a man who is so godly, loving, and strong.  Lord willing, we’re hoping to get married this fall.

Merry Christmas!!!

Thanks to my sister Melissa ( for helping me with pictures!

Hi everybody!

Please excuse my prolonged absence. I lost my main computer this summer. As in it wouldn’t turn on.  At all.  I lost all my original copies of the pictures for Rapunzel’s Resource and my other blog, for that matter.  After super mom spent much geeky bonding time with the cpu, it can run basic stuff, but it still spontaneously restarts for no apparent reason. Very frustrating.

I have some new tutorials and videos in the works, but first I have to get through a really important exam, piano recital, and three emergency sewing projects. So, in the meantime, please enjoy some pictures from my summer vacation. (Best trip EVER!)

May Update from Elizabeth

Happy May, Ladies!!!  (I know I’m a few days late, but better late than never, right? 🙂 )

I hope you all had a great Easter.  For those of you who haven’t seen it, you can read my thoughts from last year here.  This year, I spent some time just thinking about the fact that this was my God Who gave His life for me.  You can hear a great song about that idea here.

I’ve received quite a few comments and e-mails asking when there will be a new tutorial, what’s happened to me, etc.  Let me assure you: I’m not dead, just my computer is– or as my southern daddy would say “day-yed.”  🙂  The computer that I do all my pictures on has developed this nasty habit of randomly shutting down every so often.  The internet isn’t really functional, but we have the system on life support so that we can write papers for school.  If you have written me or asked a question, I’ll try to respond when I can.  It’s just that at this stage of my life right now, blogging isn’t my top priority.  Real life has thrown more at me in the last few months than you can imagine.  The rest of this month is going to be so busy, I probably won’t be able to post again for several weeks.  So what does that mean for Rapunzel’s Resource?

  1. I have about a half-dozen new tutorials I want to write this summer– specifically some new updos, rope braid ideas, and some stuff from the first two Narnia movies.  There are also some styles that I would like to do videos for, as well.
  2. Some of you have requested some styles and I haven’t approved your requests.  This is because I have decided not to do Sci-Fi styles on Rapunzel’s Resource.  The reason I developed this site was to provide creative styling techniques for long-haired ladies for both modern life and historical re-enactment events.  And Sci-Fi styles are usually impossible without fake hair anyway.
  3. For other movie style requests, I’m working on how to implement a discussion-based movie hair style section on WordPress.  I hope this will allow those who want to be able to work together to figure out how those looks can be replicated.

So after school ends, and graduation and wedding season is over, I hope to have some new things ready for ya’ll.  See you then!

P.S.  I finally saw “Tangled”!  If you’d like to post your thoughts on the movie as a long-haired gal, that would be great.  🙂

Not Hair Related: Piano Recital

Hi ladies!

Some of you have asked me what do I do other than hair– my life beyond the blog. One of my favorite things is piano! I just did a recital this week, and here’s what I played.

It’s Domenico Scarlatti’s Sonata in F minor. Born the same year as J.S. Bach and G.F. Handel, Scarlatti was an exceptional baroque composer and one of the fathers of solo keyboard music. Each of his over five hundred one-movement sonatas is a unique gem. This beautiful piece is one of my favorites, and I performed it at a recital in March 2011. For this recording, I played it on my 1991 Baldwin Hamilton 243 named Schroeder. If you don’t know Schroeder’s story, you can read it here.

I just wanted to share that with ya’ll. Have a terrific Thursday!

Three Announcements

First of all, did anyone notice?

We actually went to 1068 for that day (Friday).

Second, as celebration, and because Rapunzel’s Resource’s 1 year birthday is coming up, I will be doing another theme week.  This time, it will be the styles of Narnia.   More details to come soon!

And lastly, this next week and a half I am going on a trip.  I will be visiting . . .
